Samantha's beautiful ceramic earrings caught my eye at a local market. Paired with Samantha's bubbly personality and love for her work, her earrings and pots have been a great addition to Flourish Foliage. Pop in store to check out what is available!

What led you into creating?
I've always had an obsession with ceramics. I'd been attending night classes few years, but I took it at a slow pace; it was a hobby. In march 2020 I set off for London with a few months of backpacking planned on my way. Things quickly escalated with the virus while I was in Nepal and I got an evacuation flight home in April which posed the question "What am I going to do?" So, in quarantine, I started sketching jewellery designs and as soon as New Zealand came out of lockdown I got my hands on some clay!
Describe your studio/creative space:
My studio is in the spare room of my house! The sun comes streaming in, in the mornings and I have a desk set up in one corner for all of my digital work, and then a sturdy work bench for all of my clay work. The pottery wheel is in the sunroom (the windows get quite mucky)!
Your favourite piece:
At the moment (during lockdown 2.0) I'm enjoying throwing different forms on the wheel, playing around with shapes and seeing how far I can push myself.
A favourite place in NZ:
I love Takaka in the summer, it's so stunning and relaxed! I also love a good, heavy rain on the west coast up Granity and Karamea way.
A memorable meal:
The other night I made a lentil 'shepherds pie' expecting it to be a bit boring but my goodness it was tasty!
